| The contest archives tell an interesting story about the progression of astrophotography over the years. As techniques, equipment and technology improve so does the caliber of work turned in every year. The sophistication and technical know-how from beginning to end is amazing and would never be possible on such a broad and swift scale without the invaluable aid of the internet where ideas and experiences intertwine and propel everyone involved to new levels of expertise at record paces. The SCT-User group is just such a place, established in 1999 by Rod Mollise for the very purpose of exchanging ideas, knowledge, and experiences revolving around what feeds the passions for so many of us- amateur astronomy. |
